A day of smoke and ash

View of the city today:

What it usually looks like:

We scrubbed black soot off the window this morning. Little pieces of ash float through the air. Bicyclists wear masks. Pedestrians wrap their faces up with scarves. Everyone talks about the skies. It's uncomfortable, but it's nothing compared to what areas east of here are experiencing. There, both the highway and the river have been closed to traffic. Some of those counties have evacuation alerts in place already. The news is full of hopeful talk about rain tomorrow... or at least, a 25% chance of rain. Fingers crossed!
