What I love: Kharkiv architecture

Ten of my favorite things about the architecture in this city! : )

#1. Buildings with arches that you can drive through:
Overwhelming, slightly depressing, yet impressive.

#2. Unexpected splashes of color:
Sumskaya St

#3. Pretty much anything in the snow...

... or covered with ivy:

#4. Buildings with laundry drying:

#5. The Jewish synagogue (which is 100 years old and, according to this article, was used for sports during the USSR).
View from a side street. The actual synagogue is quite neat and tidy-looking.

#6. Downtown:

#7. The old...

... and the new:

#8. Intricate details and fanciful guardians:

This building was just redone over the summer- you can still see the construction platform.

#9. The churches:

#10: Brick, brick, brick! It's everywhere:

  1. Hi Katherine!

Love this post and all of the beautiful pics - you've given such great insight into the Ukraine here :)

I don't know if you remember me, but you had commented quite a bit on my blog this summer. I shut it down without notice but I recently started up a new blog that has been rebranded. Just wanted to reconnect with you!

    Hope you are doing well
