Peacock Lane

Last year, I made a list of 80 things to try. Um, yeah, that turned out to be a little unrealistic... but this was the last thing I crossed off the list before the year ended.

Each December, thousands of visitors walk up and down a little Portland street called Peacock Lane. The people who live on this street decorate their homes as if the buildings are life-size gingerbread houses.

You can also drive through the neighborhood, but I think it's more fun to bundle up and be outside. Either way, it's completely free!

I'll share some of my favorite displays with you...

Star Wars takes first place, of course :p Two homes went with this idea.

There were also more traditional nods to the season-

Do you have anything like this where you live? ZooLights, maybe?

By the way, January 7th was Orthodox Christmas in Ukraine (to be followed by Old New Year next Saturday.) Merry "Second" Christmas! :) Here's a traditional food that's served in Ukraine around this time- кутья.
